Posted in Uncategorized | Comments OffThe Major Menopause Symptoms and Their Identifiers
There are all sorts of menopause symptoms that can affect a woman when she goes through her “change of life.” One woman might experience hot flashes while another might experience cold flashes or none at all. Alot of people do not know all of the symptoms of menopause because only a few actually make the news. The vast array of symptoms related to menopause are varied and uncontrollable. Many symptoms of the change itself are not immediately recognizable. There are a few that cannot be mistaken. Learning which symptoms are truely menopausal symptoms can be an important factor in how and when a woman chooses treatment. Identifying the symptoms of menopause can help you as you try to help the women in your life as they go through their “changes”.
For many husbands, one of the most traumatic menopause symptoms is the loss of libido or dryness of her “lady bits”. A woman’s lack of interest or desire is not always a symptom of menopause. Could it be menopause if your partner constantly tells you they are not in the mood? Just be as supportive as possible. Going through “the change” is not a cake walk for her either. For further idea you can have a glimpse into Womens Health
Incontinence is, for many women, the most embarrassing symptom of menopause. Incontinence is typically the major side effect of losing your smooth muscle tone. This happens most often when people sneeze but it can also happen after laughing very hard. Different women will have different degrees of this particular symptom. Some find it only mildly annoying but easy to manage. Some people deal with it in extreme form. Try not to laugh at the woman who has to rush to the bathroom each time she sneezes or if she has to wear panty liners or other types of protective wear.
Whether or not you want to believe it, it is possible for menopause to change the way your body smells. For some women, it is the change in the way the body smells that helps them realize that they are going to menopause. This symptom, in particular, is very hard to notice. If a woman in your life suddenly starts to smell differently, even when she isn’t wearing perfume and she hasn’t started to use a new soap, she might be going through menopause. Did you ever realize that menopause can bring about an greater chance of vaginal infections such as cystitis and thrush. Basically women do not understand the danger that they are going to be in. Hence it’s extremely important for women to take proper care of their health and fitness. Presently there is no necessity to be scared of as Clotrimazole and Fluconazole are universal antifungal drug that are prescribed by physicians to treat thrush.
Menopause symptoms are widely varied. Even if two women have the same symptoms they will experience them differently. For some women, the symptoms are only mild. Others have intense and debilitating symptoms. Understanding the symptoms of menopause can do quite a lot both for you (if you are going through it) and the people in your life (who will be helping you through it). These symptoms are just a few of the symptoms you might have to live with. Talking to your doctor will help you learn what all you should be looking out for.

Be the Ultimate Assistant: A celebrity assistant’s secrets to working with any high-powered employer $7.99 Foreword by Olympia Dukakis. A must-have insiders guide! Real life tools and advice for every professional assistant and their high-powered employers. A first-hand look at the world of a celebrity assistant, and its application to the larger realm of all professional assistants. Enlightening and entertaining, this book is filled with true stories and lessons from author Bonnie Low-Kramen’s 22+ years working with Academy Award-winning actress Olympia Dukakis. Low-Kramen is also a co-founder of New York Celebrity Assistants (NYCA). The author comments… “I love being an assistant. In fact, I strive to be an “ultimate” assistant, someone who seeks excellence and improvement – not just on some days, but every day. I don’t always succeed, but this is what I try to do. Are you so inclined? Ultimate assistants are like that, and I am privileged to know quite a few, including some whose experiences are in the book. I wrote the book for three reasons. The first is that this work is frequently misunderstood and has been subject to warped misconceptions by the media. The second is that there are too few resources for assistants, and certainly not only those who work for celebrities. Third, there is a tremendous curiosity about the work. I decided that I was in a unique position to set the record straight and tell it the way it really is to those who actually want to know the truth of it!” 18 chapters include: How do you find a job? Glamour, Glitz and other perks. Salary & Benefits. Stories & quotes from assts. Skills & Qualities Needed. Public Speaking. Event Planning. Resources-To-Go. |

Beth Levine Shoes $37.5 If you love shoes—and who doesn’t?—you know that nothing says as much about a woman’s style as her taste in footwear. Long before Jimmy Choo and Christian Louboutin, Beth Levine was designing shoes that were objects of desire and even lust. Levine, who introduced mules, stilettos, and fashion boots to the American market, was a visionary. Born a farmgirl, she took her design inspiration from nature—and everything else: auto racing, patchwork quilts, even the 1969 moon landing. Fashion-forward and exquisitely constructed, Levine’s shoes were worn by stars like Marilyn Monroe and Barbra Streisand, favored by designers like Halston, Oscar de la Renta, and Geoffrey Beene, and collected by Azzedine Alaïa and Manolo Blahnik.  This book’s full-color photos of Levine’s creations—from vinyl cowboy boots to sublime black silk pumps—display her shoes as touchstones of glamour and, ultimately, works of art.“Before MANOLO BLAHNIK, there was the cutting-edge shoe designer BETH LEVINE (1914-2006). Stockinged boots that extended into a wrapped bodysuit, slides lined in Astroturf, and driving pumps in the forms of cars—all were part of her rich vocabulary, being celebrated in BETH LEVINE SHOES, by HELENE VERIN.”-Andre Leon Talley, VOGUE April 2009  Widely hailed as the ‘First Lady of American Shoe Design’, Beth worked under her husband’s label to create some of the most innovative and popular shoes of the 60′ and 70’s, including Nancy Sinatra’s boots that walked all over you in her hit single, “These Boots Are Made for Walkin’.”-Callie Watts, BUST.com I knew the name but not much about the woman, so when the book Beth Levine Shoes landed on my desk, I quickly flipped the pages, reading the quotes and staring at the shoes, so intricate, creative and whimsical… The book offers |

Book of The Three Dragons By Kenneth M. Morris $11.95 Originally published in 1930, Kenneth Morris’s superb <i>Book of the Three Dragons</i> is an imaginative reworking of elements from the Mabinogion and other Welsh Celtic stories, telling the story of Manawyddan, who is given the choice between immortality with the gods or preventing a new evil from destroying the Island of the Mighty. Manawyddan chooses the latter, and the novel tells of his adventures. Swiftly moving and dramatic, this is a book that lovers of modern fantasy and old hero tales alike cannot afford to miss. <BR><BR>Perhaps most importantly for modern readers, for the first time Morris’s unpublished ending – amounting to one-third of the book’s length – is included in this new edition, telling what became of the hero, his wife, and their son.<BR><BR>NOTE ON NEW SERIES: This is the first in our new line of fantasy fiction, which will feature both masterpieces no longer in print in the US as well as new works. The series will be edited by noted Tolkien scholar Douglas A. Anderson, whose previous books include <i>The Annotated Hobbit </i>(HM) and <i>Tales Before Tolkien</i> (Ballantine). Mr. Anderson will also write introductions to each book, providing context and background to enrich the reader’s experience. The cover look and interior design will appeal to all demographics (especially younger fans under 30 who play computer fantasy games and love writers like Tolkien, Pratchett, and Pullman) with top artists creating a dazzling fantasy look.<BR><BR><b>Quotes</b>:”It is a singularly fine example of the recreation of a work magnificent in its own right (the ‘Mabinogion’) — a literary event rather rare except in fantasy” – Ursula Le Guin<BR><BR>”Kenneth Morris was an important, innovative fantasist, worthy to rank with MacDonald, Eddison, and Tolkien.” – Ursula Le Guin<BR><BR>”Morris writes with all Lord Dunsany’s richness, though his cadences are Celtic rather than biblical. This one should be read aloud.” – review in the Feb. 2004 issue of <i>Fant |

Christ And The Human Race $19.61 Purchase of this book includes free trial access to www.million-books.com where you can read more than a million books for free. This is an OCR edition with typos.Excerpt from book:LECTURE in THE ESSENTIAL UNITY OF THE HUMAN RACE Mb. James Bryce, in the first chapter of “The American Commonwealth,” quotes with approval a remark of Aristotle to the effect that the first step in investigation is to ask the right questions.1 This just observation might with advantage be prefaced by another: the power to ask the right questions presupposes the right mental attitude toward the subject to be investigated. The subject engaging us in these Lectures is the Human Race. My effort thus far has been to find a mental attitude toward this subject that seemed to carry in itself inherent authority as a standard for imitation. We have sought it where, by the common consent of the Western world, it might be expected to exist, namely, in the mind of Christ. The results of my inquiry and the implications contained in those results are before you 1 Cf. vol. i. p. 4, 2d ed. in the first and second Lectures. The historical records of Christ’s words, actions, and influence, and of the impressions formed thereby in the minds of men, during a brief but significant time of earthly manifestation, form the larger part of the New Testament writings. By a comparison of these with the conventional attitudes of the Western mind toward Oriental races, we have discriminated the qualities of breadth, sympathy, vital interest, and love that marked the position taken by the mind of Christ toward the great world that stretched out eastward and westward, beyond the bounds of Judaism. It was a world with which by physical inheritance, being of Jewish birth, He had no affiliation. His position toward that larger, foreign world is in sharp contrast with prevailing sentiment found among Western nations and men. Hatred, suspicion, implacable antagonism, ferocious efforts undertaken in the |

Forever Remembered $3.99 Grief comes into our lives like a thief. We are shocked, hurt, even bitter. The intensely personal experience may send us in a tailspin of emotions completely unexpected, always unwanted. The death of a child is perhaps one of the most grievous sorrows to bear. As an RN, I have attended many couples experiencing the death of their beloved child in the womb, or shortly after birth. I have witnessed, and shared the intense grief. We have a God who knows the number of hairs on our heads, calls the stars by name, and is aware of each sparrow that falls from the sky. This same God, is aware of each individual experience of grief and pain. God’s compassion moved me to start a support group for grieving families, hoping to touch lives with His compassionate love.In this book you will find a compilation of scriptures, poems, notes, and quotes taken from the support group newsletter that I have written over the years. In times of grief, reading the words of others can help communicate the intense feelings of grief and loss and help us realize we are not alone. |

God: A Guide for Seekers $7.95 “I am that I am,” is the Old Testament quoting God directly. “God is love,” says the New Testament. “God is a verb,” counters Buckminster Fuller. “God is dead,” claimed Nietzsche. And then there’s Picasso: “God is really only another artist. He invented the giraffe, the elephant, and the cat. He has no real style. He just goes on trying other things.” What are we to make of this?Compiled and edited by the author of the bestselling The Little Zen Companion and The Little Book of Prayers, God is a collection of the most compelling, surprising, witty, interesting, paradoxical, and passionate things people through the centuries have thought and said about God. It is about God’s presence and God’s absence, God’s essence and God’s attributes, God’s actions and God’s indifference–even God’s names (in Islam there are 99 of them, while in the Jewish tradition God’s name cannot even be written). Each page inspires, enlightens, provokes, reassures. Quotes come from scripture and religious leaders, philosophers and mystics, writers, artists, poets, Zen free spirits and scientists, and anonymous graffiti writers. Eclectic and ecumenical, it is a seeker’s palm-sized miscellany celebrating the ineffable. |

Would they get the bad guys, or kill each other, first? Return with us now, to those thrilling days of yesteryear-1983-1986, to be exact-when Stephen J. Hear My Soul Speak: Wedding Quotations from Shakespeare $2.99 William Shakespeare wrote some of the most romantic lines the world has ever known. What better way to bless a wedding than with a generous helping of his timeless wisdom? No one speaks to eternal happiness and everlasting love like Shakespeare, whose words ring just as true today as they did four hundred years ago. This book is far more than just a plain list of quotes you’ve no doubt heard before. Over one hundred selections have been chosen specifically for their usefulness at a wedding, organized by who might say them (the happy couple, the father of the bride, or even the guests themselves), when to say them (at the altar, at the reception, as a toast) and even what they mean (when it’s not obvious). It’s much easier for the best man to deliver a toast when he knows what he’s saying and is not just reading from an index card he copied off the Internet, no matter how cool and romantic it sounds. There is a chapter devoted entirely to sonnets that might be appropriate for ceremonial readings, complete with “modern translation.” Additionally there are chapters on how to recite Shakespeare like a pro, and a brief biography of Shakespeare for those who might be curious about Mr. Timeless Romantic’s own love life.A wedding is the happiest day in two people’s lives. If you’re a guest or a member of the wedding party and you get a chance to contribute, why fall back on the same old “Congratulations and best wishes” cliché that everybody uses? Make your contribution the most memorable part of their already memorable day by channeling some of the Bard’s words. Who knows? They may still be talking about your reading four hundred years from now.And if it is your wedding? Well, then, Heaven give you many, many merry days. When you do dance, I wish you a wave o’ the sea, that you might ever do nothing but that. |

How and Why Species Multiply: The Radiation of Darwin’s Finches $26.5 “I really enjoyed this book. It is a splendid introduction both to the finches and to radiation on islands. The authors’ statement that ‘Speciation is a process and not an event’ should become one of the most famous quotes in evolutionary biology.”–John A. Endler, University of California, Santa Barbara”A brilliant synthesis. The authors have written a concise summary of current understanding of one of the classic case studies of evolutionary diversification, Darwin’s finches of the Galpagos. I can think of no parallel to this work. This book will be an inspiration to students. The Grants’ love of the subject and the research comes through clearly.”–Jonathan B. Losos, Harvard University”This is a book that summarizes decades of research on Darwin’s finches and integrates it into a very accessible synthesis. What really distinguishes the book, of course, is the authority of the authors, who have lived with these birds for many years and have unparalleled familiarity with them. Readers will benefit enormously from the scholarship in this book.”–David B. Wake, University of California, Berkeley |

Long and Short of It: The Madcap History of the Skirt $0.99 From its simple beginnings as a unisex body wrap to its bold march forward as an iconic symbol of femininity to a haute couture fashion statement, the skirt has had a perilous journey—one day subject to accolades, the next ridicule, and even coming under fire before the Supreme Court. Cultural icon, garment of personal expression, verb or slur, the significance of the skirt is grander than merely serving as an article of clothing. Through the years, skirts have been both liberating and restricting, inspiring and exasperating. Skirts transcend mere fashion, serving as barometers of the cultural zeitgeist. The Long and Short of It will humorously detail the evolution of the skirt and the women (and men) who wore them. Loosely divided by different skirts (the bustle, the hobble, the pencil skirt, the peasant skirt, miniskirt, etc.), the book will chronologically cover ancient times, pre-twentieth century, World War I, the flapper era, Hollywood years, World War II, rock n’ roll, free love, women’s lib, the Power Decade, and several others. The Long and Short of It will will feature: the relationship between women’s salaries and their hemlines the history of the skirt through the changing wardrobe of America’s first ladies religious references to the sacred nature of skirts nineteenth century fashion tips laws protecting women and their skirts The change in censorship of women’s legs—by the length of Jane’s skirt in classic Tarzan films crazy cases brought to court involving women’s skirts—including a 2004 case of a woman lawyer barred from a courtroom by a judge—for wearing trousers Snappy and fun, with two-color illustrations and amusing quotes and sidebars, this sassy history from famed book packagers becker&mayer! is the perfect combination of history, fashion, and culture. |

Marry Me and I Will Take You All over the World: Quotes and Tidbits from a Life of Love $12.58 “Marry Me and I Will Take You All Over the World” is best summarized by it’s sub-title: Quotes and Tidbits from a Life of Love. Many families will recognize their own shenanigans from this book. Since it is written for anyone who can read, I have omitted lots of material that might be considered offensive. Here’s one I probably should have retained: It’s 1984; an American colleague is visiting us in Paris to be honored for technical contributions to the Society of Petroleum Engineers. He thanks everybody: “merci beaucoup” (and they say Americans do not speak foreign languages!). He really should have stopped there, though. Instead, he continues in his best French: “I would like to sleep with all of you,” (je voudrai …..), when he meant to say “I love you all,” (je vous aime.) You’d think the French would be upset, but in fact they hooped and hollered . at least my buddy “attempted” their language, and did not just assume that they all speak English. They get a bad rap, the French, for brusqueness … and rightly so (just kidding, France.) But actually they can be really nice; and Paris is a great cultural and architectural city (oh la la!). So … that’s one of the many I excluded; wait until you get to the ones that made the book. |

Here is the nitty-gritty by the author of Be Here Now—more than 200 penetrating observations and pithy spiritual instructions on such topics as How It All Is, Love and Devotion, Suffering, Aging, Planes of Consciousness, Death and Dying, Service and Compassion, Psychedelics, Social Awareness, and Liberation.“This book is a kind of spiritual brandy, a distillation of the lectures I’ve given over the course of the past decade or so. These quotes are the little “aha!” moments, the cameos that have been served up out of our collective consciousness from time to time that seem to summarize something about our human journey. I think of this book as something you might have next to the coffeepot to pick up in the morning, or as something you might tuck into your backpack to pull out during your bus ride to work, in order to reframe the way you look at your day.” —Ram DassAuthor Biography: RAM DASS is one of America’s most beloved spiritual figures. After meeting his guru in India and receiving training in practices of meditation, devotion, and hatha yoga, he translated those teachings for Western audiences through his lectures, workshops, and books. Following his guru’s instructions to “love and serve people,” Ram Dass has dedicated his life to working and teaching about consciousness transformation, conscious dying, and conscious social action. He presently makes his home in California. |

The Anatomy Of Melancholy (Volume I Of Iii) $4.99 A labor of love taking much of Burton’s life to write and revise, “The Anatomy of Melancholy” is an expansive, informative, and eccentric work of genius first published in 1621. Burton was an English churchman and a scholar, and his depth and breadth of knowledge is readily apparent in this inexhaustible book. Through the frame of a medical treatise, Burton begins with melancholy and slowly deals with various mental states, frequently digressing with commentary from a myriad of other fields, including history, literature, psychology, astronomy, and theology. Though he quotes medical experts from Hippocrates and Aristotle to many medieval authorities, Burton just as often includes Latin poetry in a manner bordering on a stream of consciousness. Through this plethora of references on the human condition, as well as Burton’s alternately serious and satirical tone, “The Anatomy of Melancholy” eloquently portrays the whole of human knowledge up to its day in a charming and imaginative way that will allow this work to endure as a classic of the English language. In this edition we have the first of three volumes. |

The Eloquent Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis: A Portrait in Her Own Words $11.99 As her own words prove well, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis could be at times funny, buoyant, candid, irreverent, and of course poignant, too. This collection of quotes shares her thoughts on marriage, family, political life and ambition, publicity, privacy, and more as she confided them to intimate friends, family, and interviewers alike.Memories of her childhood, her love for Jack, her children and grandchildren, the Kennedys, her often misunderstood marriage to Aristotle Onassis, her years as a widow, and her later companionship with Maurice Tempelsman are all represented here, as are some rather remarkable correspondences with the Johnsons, the Nixons, and the Khrushchevs.A sampling of her wit and wisdom: “I was a tomboy. I decided to learn to dance and I became feminine.” “Well, I think my biggest achievement is that, after going through a rather difficult time, I consider myself comparatively sane.” “When Harvard men say they have graduated from Radcliffe, then we’ve made it.” “If Jack proved to be the greatest president of the century and his children turned out badly, it would be a tragedy.” Forty years ago, when the nation was coming out from under a period of mourning, Bill Adler edited The Kennedy Wit and in so doing helped the world remember a man and a president, not just a sorrowful event. To commemorate the tenth anniversary of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis’s death, he has edited yet another book of quotes celebrating life — this time the life of Jackie. The accompanying DVD documentary is considered by many to be the definitive film biography of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and was produced by CBS News Productions for Arts & Entertainment Network. |

The Oval Portrait $24.95 This novel draws from a wide variety of source material. In his scenes of seduction, the vampire Plutarch quotes verses from the French, Italian and German love songs of the Renaissance. The Latin verses quoted are taken from poems such as those that were popular among the upper classes of the mid-seventeenth century. Edgar Allan Poe’s The Oval Portrait is referred to in several instances; the text thereof has been distilled somewhat but the language has not been altered. The erotic poetry of Paul Verlaine is also quoted, as are Anton Chekhov and Salvador Dali. The character of Plutarch, as he appears in this novel, is to a large extent based on the character Des Esseintes from J.K. Huysman’s brilliant and shocking nineteenth-century novel A Rebours (Against Nature). Indeed, his bizarre book served as the fundamental inspiration for this novel. Finally, as to the historical Plutarch, he of course did live, born in A.D. 45 at Chaeronea in Boeotia. One of the great classical scholars, Plutarch adopted the philosophical standpoint of a Platonist. His historical works were written later in life-it is known that Shakespeare used Plutarch’s writings as source material for his own work. As for his personal habits as portrayed in this piece, I have clearly taken many liberties. |

THE EESOLVE. Heb. x. 7. ” Then Said I, Lo, I Comb (in The Volume or The Book It Is WRITTEN OP Me) TO DO THY WILL, O GoD.” This passage, which S. Paul quotes from the Psalms, connects our Lord’s purpose, as it existed in His pure Godhead before His Incarnation, with His purpose afterwards manifested in His Manhood. It, moreover, marks the distinction between the two, between the resolve formed in the mysterious movements of His eternal life as God, and the fulfilment of that resolve in the flesh, as the Child of man. The passage speaks of the spirit of self-sacrifice as an idea originally existing in the mind of the Son, only waiting for the assumption of our nature in order to fulfil it. ” Sacrifice and offering Thou wouldest not, but a body hast Thou prepared Me. In burnt-offerings and sacrifices for sin Thou hast no pleasure. Then said I, Lo, I come, (in the volume of the book it is written of Me) to do Thy will, O God.” First, there is the original resolve, and then the coming in the prepared Body to execute it. The resolve is to make the sacrifice of Himself, instead of the burnt-offerings of the Temple service. This is uttered as from the inner Heart of Deity. The love that would sacrifice life in the pure desire to bless and save, was in His mind as God. The means of fulfilling this self-sacrifice for the sake of man’s redemption, was afterwards provided, when the Body was prepared, or when, as our version of the Psalms expresses it, ” Mine ears hast Thou opened ;’” the opening or piercing of the ear by the awl being the customary mark of the slave, denoting his |

The Person of Christ $0.99 IN this new Edition no change of any importance has been made beyond the correction of errata, and extending the texts quoted. The object of the book is to draw more attention to the great subject of connecting at all times the Person of Christ with His work. This is a point which the experience of the most solid believers has testified to as of vast importance. Toplady quotes the following case from the diary of one who afterwards preached Christ, Mr.Thomas Cole. Listen to his interesting statement : – ‘” I was convinced I could be saved no other way than by grace, if I could but find grace enough. But at that time I saw more in my own sin than in God’s mercy. But this put me on a further inquiry after the grace of God, because my life lay upon it: and then I was brought to the Gospel. When, however, I came to the Gospel, I met with the law in it; that is, I was for turning the Gospel into law. I began to settle myself upon Gospel-duties, such as repentance, humiliation, believing, praying; and (I know not how) I forgot the promise of grace which first brought me to the Gospel. Soon I found I could neither believe nor pray as the Gospel required. While I was in this plunge, it pleased the Lord to direct me to study the Person of Christ, whom I looked on as the great undertaker in the work of man’s salvation! And truly here I may say, as Paul did, ‘It pleased God to reveal His Son in me.’ God overcame my heart with this. I saw so much mercy in His mercy, so much love in His love, so much grace in His grace, that I knew not what to liken it to. And here my heart broke, I knew not how! Before this faith came, I knew not how to secure myself against past, present, and future sins: but there was that largeness of grace, that all-sufficiency of mercy, that infinity of righteousness, discovered to me in Christ, that I found sufficient for all the days of my life.”GLASGOW, June, 1858. |
